| I paint because painting is my "happy place". Whatever
positive brain chemicals percolate when we undertake creative
activities is most definitely working for me. Simply put, painting
releases such positive and creative emotions in me. And what makes me
particularly happy is sharing those good feelings. I love it when my
paintings make people smile. I am mostly self-taught but did study art
at university when I was younger. I think of myself as both a creative and an organic artist and believe I can capture that organic beauty that surrounds us in our day-to-day lives. For me, there is infinite beauty outside my door in North Vancouver. I love painting Lower Lonsdale landscapes which I discover on my daily walks in my neighborhood and my walks along the Ambleside Seawalk in West Vancouver. I start by taking a photo of something, then I prop the photo in front of me and I interpret the picture with pen and watercolors. My goal is to produce paintings of ordinary places and landmarks that people might pass every day, but do not really 'see'. |
